On the first Sunday of the month, we share a potluck and partake in communion together. You can bring any item(s) that you'd like to share with others. Devoted Worshipers
We want to be people who are devoted to worshiping Jesus with our whole heart and lives. We want to carve out time daily to be with Jesus. We make time to join with others to pray and study His Word. We regularly celebrate the Lord's Supper and can't stop thanking Jesus for His mercy. These are not obligations that we try to squeeze in, but cravings we can't live without. We don't require gifted communicators or musicians; we just love to worship Jesus even in the most basic of settings. It is the object of worship (the person of Jesus) that makes worship exciting to us.
Loving Families
The Body of believers is supposed to be even closer to us than our own families. Jesus said that 'all people will know you are my disciples, if you have love for one another' (John 13:35). He also prayed that His disciples would be so 'perfectly one' that the world may believe that the Father sent Jesus (John 17:20-23). We want to be people who love each other deeply and show this by our sacrificial love toward one another. We seek a bond that surpasses that of our natural families and is only possible because of our common love and fellowship with Jesus. We share our possessions and our lives with each other. We seek to obey all of the 'one another' commands in scripture. Christ wants us to be known for our love, and He claimed that our unity would cause others to believe in Him. Our goal is not merely to get along but to love each other to the extent that Christ loved us, and to be united to the extent that the Father is one with the Son.
Equipped Disciple-Makers
We want our people to become increasingly equipped to live increasingly into a life in the Spirit as ambassadors to fellow believers and our neighbors. We believe that all believers are called into the ministry of building up fellow believers in their faith. No one should have the attitude of a consumer, but all should live as humble servants, just as our Lord modeled for us. The Holy Spirit has given each of us gifts that are to be used for building up the Body. This starts with our leaders who equip believers within the Body to greater maturity through their own faithful modeling and teaching of Christ-likeness, with the goal that each one of us becomes more like Christ, while helping other brothers and sisters mature in their faith as well. Through this, we will follow Jesus' lead to multiply disciples and even other home churches.
Spirit-Filled Missionaries
Because of Christ's salvation in our lives and His indwelling of His Holy Spirit, we should be people with transformed character who are focused on sharing the Gospel with the neighbors God has placed around us. We want to be people who are not focused on survival or higher standards of living, but devoted to the mission of Jesus for the world. For a few, this may mean going to foreign countries to share Christ where He has not been heard, but for most of us this means faithfully sharing the Gospel (in word and deed) right where we live, work, worship and play everyday.
Suffering Servants
We want to be people who are eagerly awaiting the return of Christ and are willing and to suffer for our faith in Jesus whenever needed. When you read the scriptures, it is undeniably clear that Christians are supposed to expect and embrace suffering with joy. This calling to into suffering for the sake of the Gospel is a call for all believers, not just for leaders or those serving on missions in persecuted areas around the world. Far from seeking comfort, we praise Jesus together through any hardship, as we have the privilege of enduring and suffering for His Name. Our focus is not on what we can see, but on the hope that we have in Jesus, both now and in the eternal life to come. We live as sojourners and strangers on the earth who suffer with both a joy and purpose, which always produces greater Christ-like character in us.
